A fancy suburb in the making can be such a strangely enchanting place. I got here by chance during a commissioned work in Jakarta and was immediately awe-struck when I saw it. A vast, empty flatland, save for a wide road to nowhere and some signs of construction scattered here and there. There's nobody else around and all you can hear is the sound of blowing wind. In a few months all this will be replaced by rows of identical houses and big-box stores seemingly sprouting out of thin air.
During a train ride to Jakarta to do some commissioned work earlier this month, we got stranded in the middle of nowhere after part of the locomotive blew off (at least that's what one of the crews told me anyway). There was no way to fix it on the spot so we waited for a replacement locomotive to arrive. Fortunately it was quite a beautiful day to shoot around, more than an hour passed by pretty quickly.
